It uses high frequency mechanical vibrations to generate heat by friction between the surfaces of the two parts to be welded.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;15px&#8221;][vc_row_inner content_placement=&#8221;top&#8221; gap=&#8221;35&#8243;][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>How does ultrasonic metal welding work ?<\/h3>\n<p>Ultrasonic welding makes it possible to assemble metal components, particularly <strong>copper, aluminium<\/strong> and <strong>other non-ferrous metals<\/strong> (nickel, brass, etc.) that are difficult to weld using traditional methods.<\/p>\n<p>It ensures a true connection and mechanical strength combined with excellent electrical and thermal conductivity.<\/p>\n<p>Ultrasonic metal welding is a <strong>cold welding process<\/strong>, with very little heat generated outside the joint. This process is also non-destructive and non-invasive as it requires no filler materials or soldering flux.<\/p>\n<p>The parts are welded between <strong>the Sonotrode and the anvil<\/strong>. Both of these components are ridged. The anvil holds one workpiece while the Sonotrode sets the other workpiece in motion in order to create friction allowing assembly. (see diagram)<\/p>\n<p>This process, using friction, is also called <span style=\"color: #009de0;\"><strong>molecular seizure<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Drawing on our expertise and mastery of ultrasound developed over more than 30 years, SONIMAT has evolved solutions integrating this ultrasonic metal parts welding process.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #009de0;\"><strong>APPLICATIONS:<\/strong><\/span> The ultrasonic welding process is used in the assembly of <strong>electric batteries, electronic equipment, automotive components, etc.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>But what is the ultrasonic energy ?<\/h3>\n<p>Ultrasonic mechanical vibrations have a frequency above the hearing range of the human ear (greater than 16 kHz). This is used in many applications, particularly in industry for <strong>cutting and welding<\/strong> processes of various materials (composite, textile, food, metal, plastic). Ultrasound, for cutting or welding a part, works with using an acoustic assembly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>The accoustic assembly<\/h3>\n<p>An ultrasonic acoustic assembly is a unit that uses high frequency sound waves. The operation of this acoustic assembly depends on several main components:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Ultrasound generator:<\/strong> This is an electrical energy converter that transforms electrical energy into high-frequency acoustic energy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Piezoelectric converter<\/strong> (or transducer): It transforms high-frequency acoustic energy into mechanical vibrations of the same frequency. These vibrations are then amplified by the booster and transmitted to the parts to be welded via the Sonotrode.
